The Kite Runner- chunk numero dos

As the story continues, Amir and Hassan's relationship continues to grow into more than a friendship, but more like a brotherly bond. Amir loves everything about Hassan until the other neighborhood kids come around. Amir starts to fret over the fact that Hassan is a Hazara, a group of people that were persectued by the Afghani people a long time ago, and whose cultures still clash during this time period. As the boys are playing, a boy, Assef torments AMir, and Hassan comes to his rescue. Assef then promises the two boys that he will one day get them back. As Hassan's birthday nears, Amir continues feeling less than him as his father arranges for Hassan to recieve a surgical procedure that will fix Hassan's lip, and he continues to notice that Baba never forgets Hassan's birthday.

QUESTION: DO YOU THINK THE WAY BABA TREATS HASSAN FORESHADOWS SOMETHING IN THE FUTURE THAT WILL RELATE TO AMIR'S JEALOUSY??

when i started reading the story...i definetely sensed a weird vibe whenever Amir described his father's relationship with Hassan. I would say i was sure of the upcoming twist when Amir suggested that his father NEVER missed Hassan's birthday...after all, why would a rich, busy man care take so much heed to the littleservant boy's birthday??
