Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture by Ariel Levy

Ariel Levy's Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture argues that in today's "raunchy" 21st century, women need to stop blaming men for objectifying themselves, and come to the conclusion that they themselves are objecifying themselves by turning them into "sex objects". Levy supports her argument often by comparing the modern feminist, to the "OF's" (originl feminists). The modern feminists, as she states, are the more sexy dressing, raunchier, not afraid to have fun-even with their clothes off type of women; those who are all about feeling comfortable with their sexuality and seeing feminism as a way to be whoever she wants to, even if that includes an unlimited amount of male affection. The original feminists are the "bra burning", all about female and male equality type of woman. Those who believe that theywill no longer stay at home and cook and clean and take care of the kids while their husbands at work, but will work right next to them in the work place. Levy also writes about the new type of feminists who have emerged from the 21st century:those of the trans-gender and lesbian community. Many see lesbianism as a gross portrayl that two women are just having sex with each other, but the new emerging lesbian feminists see themselves as being more like men. Equal to men.
The book was ok, but I was somewhat dissapointed. In my opinion, the book moves to slow, and Levy needs to write in a way that will intrigue her intended audience.

Question: Describe your definition of Feminism?
